Train Viewing Platform, Visitor Center and Gift Shop Now Open
Dalton and Whitfield County are hot spots for railfans who like to watch and photograph trains! Dalton is the only place in Georgia, outside of Atlanta, where two different rail lines converge and run side by side: CSX and Norfolk-Southern. The newly renovated Dalton Freight Depot Visitor Center is the perfect place for train viewing. Located at 305 South Depot Street, the special train viewing platform is a great place to set up your camera and capture images of the trains coming through. While visiting the Freight Depot don't miss the special items available in the gift shop and pick up brochures on area attractions. The Tunnel Hill Heritage Center in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, is another great place to view these modern machines.

Cycling
Dalton Cyclists
Nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains, Dalton is a great starting point for both road and off-road cycling adventures. Whether you are a beginner level road rider or an expert level mountain biker, the Dalton/Whitfield County area serves well as an all around cycling destination. Raisin Woods is a mountain bike trail located within the city limits on Brooker Drive, just a few short minutes from the downtown area. Raisin Woods is a great place for mountain biking. See more about biking in Northwest Georgia at NWGA Sorba.
